What did Queen Anne Furniture look like?
I have searched many old books and found some sketches and photos for you to help identify your antique furniture.
Most furniture of this period was walnut. Walnut was used from around 1685 up until approximately 1725-30 after which mahogany was the preferred wood.
Remember the Queen Anne style went on a little longer than the Queen's reign and in the country areas, where the style may have caught on a little later, not only walnut would have been used.
In the Queen Anne Period, tea drinking became popular, which brought on an abundance of small tables.
Some other Furniture that was introduced around about this time:
Secretaries, chests on chests, mirrors, bookcases, china cabinets and fire screens.
